Can I see a star explode in my life time?

An average life span of a human male or female is approimately 78 years old. So during that time what is the probability of seeing a star explode?
Your chances of seeing a star explode it very high, infact nearly everyone o earth will see a star explode in there life time. The last time a star exploded was 1987 (appromiatly 20years ago) and that was when people on earth witnessed a supernova.

A supernova is when a supergiant star gives way at the end of its life, squeezing its core matter into an extremely dense mass that then goes through a slight rebound which creates the explosion.
It is provent to be very possible because of the research of the bright star called Betelgeuse. The Betelgeuse has been watched for decades, and reaserchers say that the bright star may explode in to a supernova, they also say that when this star does explode it will become the “second sun” for a couple of weeks. They have no knowing when it will explode, but it will be a magnificant sight!

They type of star the Betelgeuse is a red giant, as the title claims it is a very large star which have short life spans. They last a few million years (max) then they burn out, switching from hydrogen fuel (flammable) to helium, carbon and a few other elements. The largest this star has ever been was in the beginning of its life span, scientists say that it was so huge that I could have reached Jupiter’s orbit. But as this star has grown ‘older’ it has shrunk in size, it shrunk by 15 percent. This star still holds the title of the brightest star recorded.
